Proof load testing is designed to ensure that item of lifting equipment can perform to the required standard in accordance with manufacturer’s guidance, by giving it a full strength test. Proof load tests are often needed in addition to the statutory requirements, e.g. LOLER regulations, Qatar Petroleum Lifting Standards, Qatar Construction Standards 2014 etc.
When is Proof Load Testing Required?A proof load test is required on installation of any lifting equipment before the item is brought into service. There may be other times in the equipment’s life where a proof test is required, e.g
Periodic testing may be specified in some British standards, e.g. BS7121, applicable to lorry loader cranes Proof load tests on all types of lifting equipment with certification, either on-site or at RC S's Test House, including:
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is the application of measurement techniques in order to identify damage and irregularities in materials. In some cases, NDT is the only practical way to obtain information about the current status and safety of process plant.
RCS employ Dye-Penetrant, Magnetic Particle and Ultrasonic testing to ensure fault free components, performed by qualified NDT engineers to PCN levels 2 and 3 and compliant with British Standards.
NDT can be performed on-site or at our in-house test facility, on a wide range of equipment, to prove weld repairs and joints, and identify component vibration / shock loading / age fatigue cracking.
