Inspection & certification

Independent inspection you can sign off with confidence

Thorough examination of lifting equipment, non-destructive testing, EMI and OCTG inspection by multi-skilled inspectors certified to SNT-TC-1A Level II.

Lifting equipment

Lifting equipment and accessories inspection

We inspect and certify lifting equipment and accessories in line with LOLER and PUWER. As a full member of the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA), we follow the association's codes of practice together with international standards and regional statutory requirements.

Where a thorough examination needs more evidence, we add the right NDT method on the spot, so you get one visit and one report.

  • Thorough examination reports and certificates of inspection
  • Load testing support and defect reporting with clear actions
  • Equipment registers and re-inspection reminders

Non-destructive testing

NDT methods

NDT supports integrity appraisal at fabrication, in service or at decommissioning. As a corporate partner of the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT), we follow its guidance and codes of practice and review our procedures as standards change.

Oil & gas

OCTG inspection

Drilling must be done safely and efficiently, in full conformance with the drilling programme. Our OCTG integrity checks find defects in the drill stem, the main cause of down-hole failures, before they reach the well.

  • BHA inspectionTo the latest DS-1 Category 3–5 and API guidance
  • Drill pipe EMIMobile dual-function EMI units with Hall-effect sensors. See below
  • StandardsAPI RP 7G, NS-2 and DS-1
  • InspectorsMinimum SNT Level II in relevant methods

BHA inspection covers visual inspection, thread gauging, wet and dry magnetic particle inspection and dimensional checks. Our EMI units move between rigs and yards at short notice.

Electromagnetic inspection

EMI inspection of drill pipe and tubulars

Our mobile EMI units scan the full length of new and used drill pipe, tubing and casing on the pipe rack. Dual-function heads with Hall-effect sensors pick up transverse and longitudinal flaws, pitting, corrosion and wall loss as the inspection buggy travels along each joint.

Every indication is proved up with ultrasonic thickness readings, magnetic particle inspection and visual checks, and each joint is classified to the client's standard before it goes back into service.

  • Full-body EMI of drill pipe, tubing and casing
  • Calibration on a reference standard before each job
  • Prove-up of indications with UT and MPI
  • Joint classification and reporting to DS-1, NS-2 and API RP 7G
  • Mobile units for rig sites and pipe yards at short notice
